Description
Spinning Wool
Using their hands, touching and spinning wool.
Churning butter, cooking up a batch of soap, candles and wicks.
Skinning a hide, scrapping, salting, smoking and drying.
Tools in the rough hands of a craftsman-
planing wood,shaving,joining and constructing.
Heating the steel, the clang of the hammer, turning and shaping,
the sizzle of hot steel dipped in cool water.
Hand made instruments, touched by breath or hands- to enjoy and entertain.
Crafts and arts for practical use or to decorate rustic walls or tables.
Touching,feeling,making their environment livable.
Callouses, hard work, using thought and common sense.
Always planning and working in order to survive.
A hard and difficult life, sweet rest.
Now a life of conveinance and leisure,
Others make and touch.
An easier life?? - or restlessness.
A tribute to our grandparents who touched and shaped their world.

Attended Cracker Days this morning and realized again the sacrifices of those who came before.
