Being An Artist

Being an artist became an interest for me several years ago. My children gave me an
art set for Christmas. Not having a background in art, it was a struggle at first.
Being reminded by some of my early art teachers that "it is just paper",
I kept moving forward.

I was able to meet artists personally and online and enjoyed their art.
Their encouragement, support and suggestions motivated me.
The world of artists is so large and I continue to receive motivation,
ideas and support by many amazing people.

After beginning my journey in art, I realized this journey was helping me see
reality in a new way. I no longer saw a tree. I saw shapes, colors, shadows,
reflections and the beauty of nature.

People are beautiful. The things that happen to them are NOT so
beautiful. I have very little control over what is NOT so beautiful.
So I remain on a search for beauty either in person, through a camera
lens or with a paint brush in hand.

Maybe someday that search will allow me to walk,to see,to touch
the nature I see and paint.

Until then my simple art and images are a start to seeing and
being thankful for beauty. Being an artist is beauty.

In Beauty May I Walk
The Navajo Beauty Way Ceremony

In beauty may I walk
All day long may I walk
Through the returning seasons may I walk
Beautifully I will possess again
Beautifully birds
Beautifully joyful birds
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk
With grasshoppers about my feet may I walk
With dew about my feet may I walk
With beauty may I walk
With beauty before me may I walk
With beauty behind me may I walk
With beauty above me may I walk
With beauty all around me may I walk
In old age, wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk
In old age, wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk
It is finished in beauty
It is finished in beauty
