Nice capture, Jack, as this one is posing so well for you. Love the light against dark and the warm tones in the vertical abstracted background. The plumage creates lines and gives another layer of complexity to the image. The main focus is on the heron, wonderful soft color, and you have done well with this one. v/fav

Hello Jack: thanks for the comment and yes, gouache is a wonderful tool in art. I studied commercial illustration back in the 60's and this was the medium of the illustrators of that day. Fast drying, but completely compatible with transparent watercolors, so you can still do a wash and then work over the detail using gouache. I think the work in your gallery is superb. Especially love this photo shot of the great blue heron. Have seen a few of these working our local pond waters here in California.

The Great Blue Heron is one of my favorite photos. It is such a regal bird. I love to watch them fish.
